About The Festival
What is the Odds and Ends Festival?
The Odds and Ends Festival is a new project conceived of by Newborn Theatre.
The festival consists of 5 plays 3-30 minute plays written by young playwrights.
The Odds and Ends Festival aims to give young playwrights the opportunity to showcase either a sample of or a completed new work in front of a public audience.
The festival is unique because, instead of requiring playwrights to produce their own submissions, Newborn Theatre is producing each of the 5 shows. This way the playwright has the opportunity to participate in the process from in a more external role, simply as a playwright. This allows for them to experience their show as it has been interpreted by our creative team.

Why is it a festival of shorts?
Short plays are more manageable and less intimidating. We therefore decided to ask for short submissions in order to make it easier for people to participate. It has also proven to be an affective strategy for collecting a wide array of creative talent.
Who can participate in the festival?
The festival accepts submissions from playwrights across North America.
All playwrights most be under 30 years old.
This year it is our pleasure to present a diverse selection of plays from all over the continent. Some playwrights have never written a play before while others have had their shows produced, reviewed and raved about.
Each show is fully staffed by artists who are under 30. We hope to give these artists a fun and professional experience that they can learn from and be proud of.
